I've actually noticed some HCI (HCI stands for human computer interaction; cara manusia berkomunikasi dengan komputer) issues on quite a number of bloggers’ page out there for quite some time now. I did a research paper on web usability and I think it would be good to share what I've learnt. Didn’t have time to really type stuff out until now. Tips on building a more ‘friendlier’ page.

#1 Choose fonts and colour combinations that are less stressful on the readers eyes. Some might not relised when designing their page but, colour and fonts may look readable when you are designing, but it's not ok for long readings. Note that colour may look different on different monitor screen due to the monitor settings and the type of monitor used.

Do not;
- use dark background with bright coloured text. Vice versa. It may look ok, but seriously, to read a whole paragraph, I think readers need sunglasses.
- use light background with light text. Same goes to dark colours. "no no, sky blue text don't go well with off white background" *tips; when dealing with sites like this, it's much readable when you highlight the text to read*

Do use;
- off white background (e.g barley). White background with black text can be readable, but it's less glaring when you use it with off white colour.
- large (but not to large) fonts. Fonts gets smaller when viewed in higher resolution screens.

#2 Loading time baby. Not everyone is using broadband la.

Do not;
- post up really large graphics. Takes forever to load.
- put too much content on one page. More stuff means longer loading time. Archive your stuff(s) and let users access them if they choose to.

Do;
- give options to let users choose this and that. (e.g Flash/HTML page, play and pause music on your site)
- try to use thumbnails or resizing large images.

#3 Watch out for your scripts. I've encountered really sucky scripts on various different sites before. One even hangs up my browser and forced me to close all my browser windows! I've also recently encountered some virus like scripts (scared the shits out of me).

Conclusion. Do la what you like, I'm just giving pointers. ...I think this pages have scripting errors too...so...ah well ;P.
