The process of Carpeting Grass

The grass and soil arrived at about 4pm. All of us (dad, mom, aunty, uncle, Li Keng, Chen Yoon and me) played with mud until 6.30pm! *phew* Cleaning up was a mess because the whole porch was filled with mud.

A reminder, remember to wear gardening gloves. All of us didn't because we didn't have any. I ended up getting my nails chipped and dirt in my fingers and mud all over my arms. There's more of a reason to wear them if you are afraid of 'earthy creatures' like 1 cm long red ants! Earth worms, millipedes, centipedes and even a queen termite! I didn't find the worms and stuff disgusting (actually earth worms are very interesting creatures, I've got to get some really soon), but the sad thing that was my finger got bitten by the ant. The pain is excruciating!!! The bitten area swelled a little but it's all ok this morning. Anyways, here's the process! It was fun!

Sand + Earth = The soil for the bottom layer of the garden.

Grass...duh

You'll have to lay out the soil evenly so that the grass will grow more beautifully. You can use a stick to check if its level.

Or you could use those cement smoother/flattener thingy.

And then you can get all messy and muddy laying the grass over the soil.

You'll have to use something heavy to flatten the grass after all is done. There will be small bumbs and stuff, so make sure to flatten them. Use something heave, but not a bench la ok. It doesn't work. A better idea is to use the 'changkul' or the shovel to compress the soil at the bumpy areas. Make sure you don't water the grass first! The muddy area will make it harder to flatten the surface.

Remember to flood you lawn with plenty of water for the next week or so. You can stop doing that if you 'feel' that the grass roots have reached the layer of soil at the bottom.

Cleaning up is problem. I have to remove the soil from my slippers a few times through out the whole process of laying out the grass.
