Someone tried to break into my home yesterday

Someone tried to break into my home yesterday night.

My dad found the main gate unlocked this morning. The padlock was missing. He thought that I forgot to lock the gate after I came home yesterday, so he waited until I woke up today to question me about my irresponsible actions.

Forgetting to lock the car door was one hard lesson I have learnt. The last time I forgot to lock my dad's car door, some thief climbed over the house gate and broke into the car, ransacking the car and stealing all that was valuable including the radio. But forgetting to lock the main gate? I'm not as careless as that. It's the main gate for god's sake!

I was out and came home late yesterday. I would usually let myself in the gate very quickly at times like that because it's dangerous not too. I'll never know if someone is out hiding some where and waiting for the opportunity to pounce on me like what Hobbes does to Kelvin. I always make it a habit to let myself in the house quickly, and locking every lock after me. There was no way that I would forget to lock the gates.

My dad went searching for the padlock after that. He found it on the table in the patio. The lock was there, but it was meddled with. It was broken. My dad then inspected the whole garden area looking for other signs. The car doors were all locked, so the car was safe. We checked all our shoes in the shoe cupboard and none were missing. The padlocks and door locks to enter my house was untouched. So what did the thief steal/do? My dad then found that the side sliding entrance was unlocked. Thank god the thief couldn't break the extra padlock!

I have to prepare myself if things like this happen again. One of my mom's friend's (They are Chinese) home was broke into once. One of the robbers almost raped one of her daughters. The only reason he didn't was because there was a Chinese male in the gang of robbers and he warned the other robbers not to mess with people his race. If they were not Chinese, ...well we all know what would have taken placed. The robber feeling angered and disappointed then kicked and punched her in the stomach and face.

FUCK THOSE ROBBERS!

My advice to all;
1# Keep an umbrella\baseball bat and a working torch light in all rooms. Also keep you handphone (if you have one) with you when you sleep.
2# Make sure you\your kids lock your\their doors when they sleep.
3# Do not open the doors\response to knocks under any circumstances. Only open if you hear a familiar voice. (e.g your parents voice)
4# If knocking persist, get ready for combat. Prepare to scream and to defend yourself.
5# Do not investigate noises alone or without telling someone else.

I don't know what would have happened if the thief(s) did break into the house.

yup, it's always to have some precautions.

i hope i'm not a part pooper or anything, but i think i must add that it's not as easy as one may think (especially for guys) when confronting robbers/thugs/baddies.

i had been mentally "practising" about kicking some robbers ass in my head for many months until one night when my dad saw a guy breaking into my car. although he was like far away from us, i was literally shaking while opening the my house grill. long story short, as prepared as you may think you are, you will still panic.

so... erm, don't be too hard on urself if you ever face that situation and freeze up ok? other than that, the best you can do is always get ready some pepper spray by ur side at all times i guess. :)

zhong, sean: All is ok, although I don't think I could sleep peacefully for a while.

mamat: I'm sangat berterima kasih kepada tuhan now cos nothing happen. The police can't do anything about it except patrol around my neighbourhood more.

osaya: But at least you prepared yourself for it. Would have been worst if you didnt. But then again it's always easier said than done.

I think pepper spray is a good tool, but bad idea. The smell is really strong...I think I would faint myself.

Would keeping a dog help? I used to have a small dog. Although it had not bitten a single postman, it would bark its head off at any alien noises.
