Fat or Phat? I think it's both. There's a big hoohaa over the Melbourne shuffle, and recently the phat pants. So... I did a little Q and A and a little research online about them.

Raver pants actually originated from U.S. Yep, U.S. not Melbourne. (So Zhong, your friend was right when he said he saw them else where first) I think the Australians, more specifically the Melbourne'ans, stuck reflectors and stuff and called them phat pants.

How does these raver pants look like? Well, my first encounter with phat pants was at the Salem Genting rave this year. The Melbourne shufflers were wearing them.

My first impression was 'OMG, designers from Sungai Wang'. I still think it looks like seafood, if you get what I mean. However, with all the 'cool' people raving and shuffling in them, I guess it makes the pants cool too. Dressing down is a fashion statement, but I didn't know dressing up like 'seafood' was one. But anyways, I came across this picture of an actually quite nice girly phat pants. Go to here. 6th picture.

Jing told me those raver reflector phat pants can only be found in Melbourne, but there are some with no reflectors on Ebay. Below are some interesting onces I found on Ebay.

Sailormoon...must be some anime junkie to wear those.
