Hope for something to go wrong
Yay! Tomorrow will be my first involvement in a server upgrade! Actually, not really a file server....a conference bridge.
I'll be heading back to the office to run some back ups and then when the clock strikes 3, the firmware upgrading process will begin. I predict it will be kind of boring though. All I think I have to do is just reboot the bridge, test some ports, make some calls.... Since the maintenance and stuff are all outsourced, all I have to do is just to man the physical hardware.
I wonder if it would be bad to hope for something to go wrong... I think I better not, the upgrade takes 8 hours and I don't think I want to drag it longer.
It's going to be super cold too! Staying in the data center for 15 minutes is already *brrrrr* for me. We are talking about 8 whole freaking hours tomorrow. Plus the temperature will drop later in the evening, and worst if it rains! Got to make sure I wear as much layer of clothes as possible LOL!
Things at work is going kind of speedy. I have not even been in my position for a month but I felt I have been there for 3 months already. I’m really starting to learn a lot about the support life… kind of fun for now. The headache will come when I really get hands on and be on-call. *yikes*
Anyway, I won’t be going to work next week because I’ll be on external training. And you know what, I will be taking a plane to work and back in a fortnights time. LOL! That will be another first time for me.
All is fun for now… hope it stays this way for as long as possible hehehe

Server support is definitely gonna be super hectic. But dun worry, with a lil' more experience in the field and you're sure able to man things well.
