Lazy day off

Aishehhh I was planning to take a day of since Monday but I could not get myself the approval! Argh!

I had to work on Monday and Tuesday because I had to important meetings to attend. Then boss drag me back to work today and when I ask if I could get my time off tomorrow... he scheduled another meeting for me! I can't take Friday off because I'll be assisting (More like giving moral support. I don't think I have the strength to carry up and mount a heavy switch.) to mount new switches HUAHUAHUA.

Anyway, a lot going on at work. Politics, movement, changes. So so stress with all this. Sometimes I wonder if I could keep on going. It's so difficult to be cool all the time you know. Sometimes I find myself wanting to bite someone's flesh. Sometimes I find myself wanting to cry out loud. Sometimes I just feel like going back to sleep when my alarm rings.

You know, many American companies have something call a lazy day. If one day, you wake up, and just don't have the mood to go to work, you can just call in and take your lazy day off.

I wish they had that in my company! I have no motivation to work =( I want to study! Anyone hiring students? I'll send you my CV!

Hole hole hole

I didn't know throwing a party will burn such a big hole in my pocket! OMG!

I have been doing a whole day of grocery shopping for the party. From the morning market to buy fresh basil to the bakery to buy some nuts and other ingredients. Went home and ate breakfast and off I went to KL to hunt for cheese and meat.

Fact 1# Can you believe that 1kg of Parmesan cost RM50!!!! I spent over RM150 just on cheese alone. Shocking!

Fact 2# 1kg of lamb shoulder is the same price as 1kg of chicken. I always thought lamb was always more expensive. Lamb leg cost double though... but taste yummier also lo.

Fact 3# Prices at Macro, Tesco and Giant don't vary that much. Different goods are cheaper at different hypermarket. If you are getting a whole bunch of stuff, it actually is easier just to shop at one place.

When to visit Macro: When you want to purchase in bulk. E.g buying 5kg of black pepper or 4 cartons of Chap Ping Pong cream cracker (Buy 4 free 1 promotion going on hehehe) Single items prices are about the same as other hypermarkets.

When to visit Tesco: I like and don't like Tesco at times. I like them because they seem to always have better quality goods. Love their freshly baked hard bread! Their own Tesco brand products ok but its really irritating to find only limited brands available for those products. No offends but majority Tesco brand food taste Boo Boo. There are so many other brands but somehow its only A or Tesco brand.

When to visit Giant: Well, though I think shopping at Tesco can save a few cents, my by default grocery shopping all happens here (and it's near my house also lo). Plenty of variety even down to the smallest product like toothpicks and tying strings. Downside is that I can't find goods I can find in Isetan or ColdStorage in Giant.

Well then again every one of the hypermarket have their own niche. They can't focus on all.

OK, so hard core grocery shopping. And I'm only 30% done.

I still have not done MY shopping yet leh. Credit cards are devils I tell you. They let you buy first worry later ARGH.

I freaked when I gather all my receipt just now. I realized I have spent over RM600 0_0 Yeah man, I can't believe it either. My credit card bill is going to kill me next month.

out of jail

Ahhhh out of jailllllllll! I finally can go out without lugging the darn laptop.

First thing I did was watch Death Note. What a dissapointment. Don't waste time watching it, especially if you have read the manga and watched the anime.

When I reached home, I thought all was going to be like heaven. But... my air conditioning wasn't working! =(((((((((((((((

Anyway, SHOPPING!!! SHOPPING!!! SHOPPING!!! tomorrow!

I desperatly need sleep. It's 4.53am, but I think I will still have to wait a little longer for my devices to rise from the dead. Hopefully all are pingable and accessible when they are powered up. I don't want to deal with failed devices again. The last time I was involved with a data center power outage, 6 devices died.

Pleaseee be alive.

it's this bad

All I can think of now is just work work work ... busy busy busy.

Nothing interesting happening at the moment except everything seems to be dying on me. Maybe I'm just too busy no notice.

My modem is still acting weird. Every time I connect to the internet, I would have to plug out the power cord and plug it back in before it lets me connect. Doesn't work if I turn off the power switch. Some chip near the power cord is cacated?

My ear phones only works on one side... I'm really a duh not to realize. I was happily listening to music... but every time I do, I always think "Better get my ears checked, kind of deaf on one side". HAHAHAHAHA I have no idea why I didn't notice it was my ear phones.

And you know your favorite white new shoes. It's not white anymore. It's not new anymore. But its your favorite pair of walking shoes although there's a hole in the bottom and will suck up water like a sponge during the rain.

..and speaking about the rain. I think I really need a new umbrella. My umbrella was overturned by the wind. LOL! But then all mini foldable umbrellas tend to be really flimsy.

Even the newspaper seems to be broken. .... until I realized I was reading yesterday's news.

HAHAHAHAHA... yup.. it's this bad.

Really frying your CPU

Is this even possible? I know you can dip the whole machine in water to wash off all the dust, but using the cpu's heat to heat up oil for french fries?!

vtp domain

Getting real hands on, and panicking when my adrenalin lets me, gives me that extra kick in this whole learning experience.

I'm currently still in the office, biting on Burger King's French chicken (very delicious by the way) and sipping on the gassy grape flavoured carbonated drink. Why so free to blog? Aren't I suppose to be working?

Will I waiting for the Tai Kor's in Singapore to trouble shoot on the problem we are facing. I got the feeling is the vtp domain giving the problem. 19 vlans?! that’s just crazy. Got to remove that and got to enable it as transparent... or client? But users still cannot get on woor... I can telnet and ping tho. That NWX04 is really weird.

I wonder if I could take home those decommissioned 1900’s….

I can't do anything now... not even lending my "no" skills because they took the switches offline.

Got to wait till my 2 babies are born... then 8pm an orphan, and at 9pm, going to adopt another 5! LOL!

Ps....sean, you got to work hard with your wives' if you wanna compete with me. LOL!
Jinnnn come backkkkkkkk!

vlan 2

I will be on-call for the next two weeks again. So now I have my CNY off as well. Going to die this month, but after that I'll be off the hook till April!

I feel super drained with all the work. Not only I have to be on 24/7 stand-by (either Primary or Secondary) I have to back up 2 colleagues that are away travelling. Usually my load isn't this heavy. Sometimes when the network is steady I really have no work. (…but I still don’t understand why agreed to swap with my colleagues again. 6 weeks of stand-by man!)

This month is really different. I have to juggle between my workload that is adding up due many problems popping up. Got to work with a big boss who is like "I want this, can I have it after lunch?". Very demanding! I'll be assisting with 6 switches replacement tomorrow and will be commissioning 2 new switches on my own!! Honestly, I'm freaking out already after what happen today!

One of my switches in Singapore died. ...everything was fine when a new one is fixed, but not until I finalized some configurations today. Me@first timer kick myself out of the network!!! I freaked out because I thought there would be an outage! I can't ping the switch, can't telnet, but my switch was still up up on my core switch when I did a sh run.

Later I realised that I managed vlan 2.... but the interface to the core was still n vlan 1. *sign* Got to ask the Singapore folks to console in to fix my error. Sure kena scolding.

Tomorrow dunno how laaaa... I don't know if I can config the switches!! If this simple setup also cannot.... aiyorr the one on the 21st don't know how la. Die laaaa.

Don't know how to balance my work la! On-call, Sg and Jpn support, voice support and all the darn administration work on the bridge and ACS server. Need to knowledge transfer some more.... ohh and waste a looootttttt of time planning for my big big big boss's agenda. He'll be in next week! AHHHHH!

Ok... realese enough already... if you have no clue what I was talking about... nvm la I have no idea either.

Ps, for Appitians out there, pay attention in your networking class. IP subnetting, switching routing and your DMZ...not forgetting redundance. All I can say is that pay attention. (especially if you are in mohan's class, you are learning the real stuff...just add a little more stress to it :P)

err-disable

This are really crazy at work... too much to handle! My brain is just looping with work, the cells are going to be error disabled soon! And it's no as simple as shut no shut!

My mentor away in Kiasuland while my see foo is in the land of Steve the croc hunter. Luckly still got a few more tai kor's and cute teddy bear to assit me. Crap mannn I really need to resit my training sessions how that I understand more on what I'm actually doing!

Don't know what to say la.. just busy busy busy. My weekends are all eaten up too... going hill\mountain tracking soon, then weddings to attend. Ahhhh no time to plan my bday partyyyy boohhoooo.

...need to get back to work... dang

don't melebih-lebihkan

Ok la, people say I'm crazy and overly excited for the party. Echo("Eh don't melebih-lebihkan la. Still long way to go weii");

But no loooo. I am excited... nothing wrong with that. And honestly, I don't think it too early to plan knowing how "Malaysian" respond to invitations... I don't what people tp RSVP an hour before they come. I need more time to coordinate la. Anyway, will be busy at work for at least 2 more weeks, so all I really have if just 2 and a half week to figure all the plans out.

I roughly have my menu for main course ready. Still figuring out stuff for starters and dessert. I really need all the time I can get to pre cook and try them out. Would be a disaster to have them turn out a disaster on the day.

Tried making some chocolate desserts already.... need to do some lab kitchen test to make them taste better. Don't really like how they taste now. Presentation needs improvement tooooo. *sign*

Mariah for Iranian

Mariah for Iranian ads...she still look so damn hot!

But Mariah aside, I hope to get my life back bit by bit... though it's difficult when I'm going on call again! But never mind la, at least I'll get my Christmas off... I hope.

I was in superb mood yesterday... feewwwwwppphhhewweett! And I think if not for work, we I could have go on and on and on. Surprisingly good (and very honest) conversation with someone unexpected. I guess life is full of chocolates! Thanks man ;)
