I'm still clueless

Busy.... very busy. Have to apologize because I didn't have much time to reply your comments. Sorry about that.

I noticed something at lunch today. And I think I'm in the middle of it. THIS IS BAD. ...but I think I can take advantage of it. ...let's see how it goes... I wonder if it matters though... I'm planning to leave anyway.

...disappointed ... under appreciated. I bet they didn't even notice. I guess it can't be helped.

3 person left my team\company this a month. =(

The first person that left... I didn't like her in the beginning. But we got along really well in the end. I'll miss her.

The second person that left... one of the makan makan session gang and one of my close colleague. We used to hit the gym together. I'm going to miss her more.

Today, is my team leader's last day. I hate to say goodbye, so I didn't. Instead I congratulated him on his new job as IT manager in another well established company. I'm going to miss him too, and really miss learning from him.

When is it my turn to leave? ....maybe soon.

... I'm still clueless ...I still want to be left alone.

I baked my first carrot cake with cream cheese frosting!

After eating so many carrot cakes from different bakers this week... I decided to bake one myself. Do I get sick of eating them? Nope, definitely not. Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting is one of my all time favorite cake. I always wanted to try to bake one I usually didn't have the guts to try because I thought it would be quite difficult. I was wrong.

My first attempt to bake this cake is very successful. *grin* The cake turned out to be very yummy... but a little too sweet. My cream cheese frosting was initially not as thick as I expected it to be, but after my cake when into the fridge, the frosting harden and viola! Perfect! I will definitely bake this cake again. But next time more carrots and less sugar.

This is one small bottom section of the carrot cake I baked. I had to cut the cake horizontally because the cake was too thick. I was supposed to bake using two cake tins but I didn't have two that were the same size.

Ok ...more is less, and less is more. But this saying doesn't apply here. MORE IS YUMMY!

Spread and flatten the frosting on to the cake. When you think you have enough of the cream cheese frosting, place the top part of the cake on the frosting, forming a carrot cake cheese sandwich.

Actually, I wanted to frost the top and the sides of the cake but my mom came in and 'lent me her hand' and I don't need. ...See... this is why I like cooking along. I hate it when someone is behind me telling me what is 'right' and telling how to cook. "No not like that" "No you must add more" "You added this and that or not? Later no nice" Yeeash!

She stole a slice. ...and I ended up with "What am I going to do with this?" question in my head.

So I ended up with this. I placed the cake flat and covered the top with frosting to make it look like the carrot brownie sold in Secret Recipe. It looks unappetizing in the picture because I didn't spend time really spreading the frosting flat out... hehehe lazy already.

This cake I did nicely. ....but looks really weird here. It's like a block of butter with carrots ...LOL!

I hate rats in my dreams

I remember there was once back when I was still studying, in Diploma level actually... I dreamt of this really freaky, gross and scary dream. I told the whole world about it, and if I remember correctly, I think I blog about it. Can't seem to find the post though.

Crabman used to tease me about the dream... and when JK about me a stuffed toy animal which looked like a rat... he teased me even more.

I have totally forgotten about this dream until I saw this today. ....my dream was something like that... except that happened to my leg. My left leg, the inner side, ankle area. It was disgusting.... rats... I hate rats... spawn spawn spawn eggssss... I know rats don't lay eggs, but the dream was freaking real.

Please do not view the clip if you want to keep your appitie. This is not for the week hearted.

Let's go to the zoo

After all my failed plans for a holiday, Cameron, Frasers, Genting, Cambodia... I did finally manage to do something I planned for. A trip to the zoo.

Left the house, from Kelana Jaya, I took the LRT to Wangsa Maju. From the station, I
took a cab to the National Zoo. Putra LRT used to provide a free feeder bus to the zoo but they stopped the service because the demand was too low.

Paid my RM10 for my ticket, and off I went for my "adventure".

I took the train ride first from the entrance for the overview of the zoo. Yasin, the train driver was my guide for the whole train ride. (I got to sit up front with him!) He explained some interesting facts about some animals through out the ride and was very kind to let me use his binoculars. ...sadly, it started to rain cats and dogs at the end of the ride.

I couldn't do anything since it was raining, so I had my lunch at MarryBrown (a local fast food restaurant). When he rain subsided, I started my tour on foot. Yasin lent me an umbrella so I managed to stay dry waist up.

Anyway, I was told that I was actually quite lucky because it rained. One of the zookeeper (I forgot his name) told me that more action happens when it rains. I kind of have to agree with him because I saw the rhinos fighting, the elephant and tiger 'poop'ing. (Download movie here. 428KB. Right click and Save Target As) I freaked out a little when the zookeeper teased one of the tigers. ..because she went into the ditch filled with water that was separating us and the tiger's turf. (See picture below)

Managed to see the birds feed too. Papayas and other fruits were given to the birds in the bird house. ...bananas and pineapples to the fruit bats ...and fish to the storks. (Download movie here. 573KB. Right click and Save Target As)

Before my adventure ended, I watched the animal show. But the animal show turned into the seal show because it seems that the rest of the performers were not in the mood due to the rain =(

Overall good trip though it rained.

I have seen and carried an albino python, played and been bitten by albino rabbits and lab rats, but an albino toad? I WANT ONE!!!!! Looks sooooo cute! Well scientifically I bet there's a lot of albino animal\reptiles (and not for getting human as well) but I have never seen an albino toad before.

Now this chick knows know to pose for the camera. Sexy baby.

Hello there handsome. I wanted to touch them... but I didn't dare. I was afraid that they might bite my finger off. Goose\Geese can be dangerous.

You Is Baboon. Enough said. LOL! ...nice ass.

My all time favorite flying rat! Vampire blood Fruit bats!

Stoners of the bird park.

Looks like uncook delicious meat. I bet the meat is tough. FYI, this is not a cow. It's a bull if you can't tell the difference.

Well I guess he will be doing all the eating...

Ok, this is not the cow we eat... but I think they fall into the same family.

Si Sang Kancil, the animal, not the car.

I should have stolen one home. Would look really good in the garden!

I would have thought that TM would sponsor the Hippo in the Zoo.. since their mascot is the blue Hippo and all ... didn't remember seeing any TM sign. I might have missed that out.

Ah ... the wise one.

Bull riders should try riding the Rhino. .....scary, chances of leaving the world is much much higher.

I still like the goose and flamingo. The stork kind of scares me.

Imagine a wooden house floating house under the trees. A small jetty and a row boat. Some clothes and some fish drying out in the sun. My break away house .... kampung style.

The lady resting in her shack.

Don't play play ler, she can swim. I kind of freak out when she went into the water.

Echo("How many time must I tell you real estate agents that I'm not selling my home!");

I laughed really hard when I saw this gecko! HAHAHAHA it was on the wall with its tail down against his back!

Very very pretty snake don't you think. Love the color!

I'm a size 5. The leaf is like 4 times my feet size! HUGEEE!!

FYI;
1. Here's a map for the railed transport in KL. You might find it useful to get to Wangsa Maju (or a few tourist attractions in Malaysia in a matter of fact).
2. Adult tickets are priced at RM10 per head. Children tickets are at RM5 per head. There are also group rates and discounts for school groups. Contact 03-41082219 (The zoo's education department) for pre-booking.
3. To sponsor an animal in the zoo, call the marketing department at 03-41083427
4. Got too much time in your hands? Why not do something nice and volunteer at the zoo? Call the zoo's education department at 03-41082219 for more information.
5. Opening hours 9am to 5pm daily. You can also visit the zoo at night during weekends and public holidays.
6. Animal show is at 11am and 3pm daily. Pony rides are only available on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays at 10.45am and 2.45pm.

Tips;
1. Cabs at the entrance of the zoo ‘waterfishes’ (take advantage of) their customers. All of them insisted that I pay them RM10 for a trip back to the LRT. Save some money by taking the pedestrian bridge across the main road. Catch a cab from the taxi stand there. It takes only 3 minutes to save RM5 and to discourage this kind of money sucking cab drivers.
2. There’s only MarryBrown restaurant and a Walls (the ice cream brand) café in the Zoo. You can pack your own lunch and eat at picnic areas.
3. Its good to bring umbrella(s) along. Wear a cap and tons of sunscreen. …and a pair of comfortable walking shoes.

Disclaimer: No animals were eaten on this trip except the chicken in MarryBrown.

quick rap

Okay... so I have been busy... miss me anyone? Ok quick rap before I head for HarryPothead with the gang.

Meeting with my supervisor went well... but he made me feel guilty, what that's what all supervisors’ do. But guilty or not... all I have to say is "Too bad lah if it doesn't work out the way you want it".

I'm sick.

Went for HWM event thing yesterday. Free goodie bag. Like the shirt. Green stress ball. And the lanyard too. YC played the "butt pushing" game. He had to stand back to back with his contender and use his butt to push the other guy off a stoned tile. Zhong and Soloh participated in a coke drinking game. Soloh is the bigger "sucker" LOL! They had to drink coke using a straw... sounds easy? ...here's the catch. The cup is placed on the floor and the guys had to drink it without using their hand and with their legs stretched. All the contenders had to have their butts face the audience while doing this. Soloh won! (iCute PC casing and a Logitech mouse) hehehe Zhong was in second place, he got a 128mb thumb drive.

One of my teammate left the company today... and there was a fire alarm test going on.

I got a new ring tone. It goes like this Echo("*OOOIUNNNNN OOOIUNNNNN* Attention please! Attention please! The fire alarm in this building has been activated. Cease all operations. Proceed immediately to the nearest fire exit or exit stairway and leave the building. Do not use the elevators. *OOOIUNNNNN OOOIUNNNNN*");

PC room light is faulty... it's acting like the fire alarm light now! It won't stop blinking. I think the heavy rain and thunder storm haywired it.

Feel really tired now... I think I might fall asleep watching Harry Pothead... *yawnnn*

I miss Para Para

I went through my pile of CDs today and guess what I found? All my Para Para tutorials! This...is actually how I 'cheat'. I play the videos on my PC and memorize the steps. Sometimes I even stand up and dance along with the video! hehehe. When I hit the arcade, I really save a lot of money because I don't do to pay to practice!

I miss Para Para.... got to visit the arcades soon.

Plantronics is the imitation of Panasonic?

Very expensive toilet.

I went window shopping for headsets today. Particularly looking for the Sennheiser that I wanted. Didn't find a single store that had Sennheiser products. I think I'm look for them at the wrong places.

Anyway, I went into this store in 1Utama. ****apple store.

Man: Yes miss? Can I help you?
Me: Yes, I'm looking for headsets.
Man: With microphones?
Me: *Duhhhh* Yes.
Man: We have ...*names me all the brand they had*
Me: Actually I'm looking for a few particular brand. Do you have *bla bla bla* or Plantronics?
Man: No.. but you can try this la.. very good one. *hands me a labtech headset*
Me: Never mind la, it's ok.
Man: No la, this one is good brand. A lot of people also come and buy this. Why you want Plantronics? That one is imitation one. You want Panasonic one is it?
Me: *walks out the store*

I felt unimpressed. I don't know if I should feel insulted, or just laugh.

Why do people think that females know nothing about technology and brands? Yes I have to admit that I'm not all that of a guru at the gadgets and stuff but I'm not that blur either. Plantronics is like the most famous brand when it comes to headsets...well, maybe that's not the first brand that will come to mind for PC headsets but a telecommunication headset includes PC (VoIP yo) headsets too! Plantronics is the imitation of Panasonic... must be the joke of the year! And don't all headsets consist of mics too? If I wanted headsets without the mic I would call them headphones!

Most have shops have LabTech's headset. Saw Sonic, some Logitech’s and Altec Lansing as well. Didn't like them though. I'm not sure which brand is better too But if I don't have a choice, I think I'll be getting a LabTech.

The mic on the headset is more important for me compared to the headphones. ... Anyone know any store that sells Plantronics headsets to home consumers? I think more firms uses it compared to home users.

Fixing up my new man

Ok, no more complaining but I'm still going to talk about my PC! Muahhaha! I did some planning and I think I'll be able to reuse some old hardware and still have nice specification for my new ma(chine)n.

I had an old Athlon 800 that I handed down to one of my relatives a few years back. And since it's totally dinosaur and he's getting a new PC too, I'm planning to reuse that monitor. And of course...being the bitchier evil geekier sister, I get to keep the newer monitor. I have no need for keyboard, mouse, speakers, headphones, floppy drives, CD drives.... have got a pile of them collecting dust so I'll just get them out. I have a few hdd sitting around too, but not sure if I should use them or just get a new one... 120gig? ...or maybe just use my current hdd and pass my sis the older ones.... *evil again*

So what is left is my mobo, processor, RAM, graphics card and sound card. Will want to get a headset (getting serious with my podcating) and a card reader and a DVD burner.

AMD or Intel? ...with Apple launching Mac's with Intel chips by end of next year... Don't know if I should wait for that.... but that's going to be a long wait! Would be so nice to have the Mac OS and Windows together on one machine. I used to tell people that if they get AMD, they should worry a little about the cooling. But AMD is much cooler these days right? And in fact the later chips are more stable compared to Intel's Pentium 4? I can't decide. One things for sure, I want a processor with the most level 2 cache possible. And got to read up on HT and dual core and all that other processor technology stuff… I’m go damn outdated man!

Will decide on mobo after I decide which processor.

Would be going for 512mb DDR2 of RAM. 512 should still be sufficient for me at the moment. RAM will definitely be cheap in time to come so I can upgrade then if I needed more. Plus... anything more than 512mb won't make much difference performance wise since I won't be using much of any heavy duty applications. ...hmm but I would be gaming hor?... still level 2 cache more important for now.

Graphics card is giving me the headache. I don't know what I want yet. I don't need something at the top. I just need something a little above average for a little of Doom3, GTA... and some of my old games.... never finished Jedi Outcast yet until now due the my retarded graphic card *shy* Got to get my hands on Battle Front II also... Call of Duty 2 also...and then Thief laaa.. Thief 3 latest is it? Or is it 4 or 5 already? Or did Thief died? But good game la. And then really want to replay and finish Diablo II, Medal of Honor and all the expansions and all too! But one thing is for sure... I'm not going to touch World of Warcraft. I will officially have no 'normal' life if I do. Ohhh and resident evil 4, but not out on PC yet right? ... I'm missing out in a lot of games man.

Ok enough of that. Back to the topic. Sound card lagi headache. I don't know what is good and I'm not sure what I need. Got to research on this and might be asking my Bro to get it for me for my birthday muahahaha. (Kor, you read my blog one rite? Sek chou la ok ;P) But casings are nicer in Singapore.... sound card or casing? I know better not to buy 'chap lang' casings already. I need one with good air flow (and maybe air filter too since my PC room can be really hot and dusty) and one that don't give an electric shock when I touch it!

Card reader? Anyone have any idea? All the same? DVD burner….should be Lite-On. As for headset, I might be getting them first. Hopefully real soon. I have my eye on Sennheiser PC20. The cheapest in their headset range but Sennheiser lah.. Will burn a hole in pocket. Plantronics ones are only slightly cheaper. Maybe Philips, Ozaki or Altec lor hor. ... Is there any shops in Low Yat where I can check these out? I better start geeking out there and on the Lowyat.net soon.

Leave your comments and suggestions yah. Would like to get some feedback so I can be a wiser shopper.

I'm such a spoilt brat

Talking to Jin yesterday made me realize that I'm such a spoilt brat. Very spoilt one. Shit.....

I have been complaining day and night about a saving for a new PC... spent money for my current PC upgrade... bitching about what a sad case I'm in... bla bla bla. What I did not realized is that at least I have one!

I'm actually lucky to have one to use. Although many of us have a PC to use at home, I know some who don't. Currently I don't share my PC with anyone. Sis is not allowed to use until her SPM is over and mom only occasionally uses it. I'm lucky that I do not have to compromise PC usage time with anyone, unlike many people out there who have to share a computer.

The only reason I'm getting a new PC for myself is because I don't have to compromise with sharing a PC... with my sis. I want to use my PC when I want to use it and I want privacy. ...and then I go complaining high and low on how much I have to save and sacrifice bla bla bla... Yoh! I'm so spoilt! ...how come no one tembak me one? Someone should have shot me right in the face.

I'm not going to complain about my PC anymore.

HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY ZHONG

HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY ZHONG!!!

6 days 5 nights in Cambodia... not anymore

In order to save for a new PC, this... I have to let go. But since I have already done all the planning, I might as well share this. Feel free to sponsor me too if you want\plan to go!

Echo("

This is roughly what we can do. (http://angkorjourney.asievoyage.org/Ppenh.tour.6days.html)

Here's the map for easy reference on the locations in Cambodia
(http://www.cambodia-travel-hotels-tours.com/maps.shtml)

This one is map of Phnom Phen
(http://www.phnompenh-hotels.org/map.php)

The most frequent visited place should be all in the agenda for that tour. We can go backpacking on our own and visit those places ourselves. The up side to it is that we can choose which place we want to go and which place we want to skip.

I've also looked at Air Asia flight tickets, tickets from KLIA to Phnom Phen and back is RM463 including all the airport tax and stuff. For our visa we don't have to worry. We just have to prepare our photo, zerox copy of the passport and USD20 and hand it to the Cambodia immigration in the Phnom Phen airport
(http://www.cambodia-travel-hotels-tours.com/visa.shtml)

This link is all the hotel links. We could use about RM40 to RM70 USD30 to USD50 per person per night (some breakfast included).

http://www.phnompenh-hotels.org/transportation.php for transport in Phnom Phen. From airport to the town will cost about USD7 , RM27 RM20 per cab. There's cheaper transportation we can also take. Touring the town will cost about USD25, RM95 RM70 per day. That's for Phnom Phen only. If we want to go down to Siem Reap, we will have to take the speed boat or aeroplane. I've tried looking for domestic flight prices from Phnom Phen to Siem Reap but all airlines website sucks like hell.

http://www.canbypublications.com/siemreap/srtransp.htm
But according to this site Siem Reap Airways offer several daily flights to/from Phnom Penh. So if want to take the plane, I don't think there would be a problem. Boat will take 4-6 hours 251km! USD25, RM95 RM70 one way. If bus, cheaper, about USD3.5, RM14 RM20 one way. 314 km, 5-7 hour trip. Longer hours in bus but the bus makes at least two stops along the way, at Skun and Kampong Thom, so we can actually see a bit of things on the way.

When we reach Siem Reap we can just travel by local tour bus, cabs (about USD25, RM95 RM70 per day), tuk-tuks (USD13, RM50 RM35 a day), or bicycle (USD3, RM12 RM7 a day). You all know how to cycle or not? Don't know please go learn. HAHAHA. Save a whole lot of money ah.

This is the Angkor Wat temple guide (http://www.canbypublications.com/siemreap/srtemples.htm)

To enter the temples have to pay entrance fee. The rates are here. (http://www.canbypublications.com/siemreap/srstarted.htm) Tickets are sold in one day (USD20, RM76 RM56), three days (USD40, RM152 RM112) and seven days (USD60, RM228 RM168) blocks. I think 1 or 3 days should be enough. Depends on how much we want to see. We won't stay there more than 3 days anyway.

Then going back to Phnom Penh we can take bus or boat. Maybe if we take bus there then can take boat back. But this we can plan when we are there.

*Estimate total per person: RM1600 RM1590 exclusing personal spending money.

*This is the break down.

Flight from KLIA to Phnom Penh and back = RM463
Accommodation = (RM140 X 5days) \ 2 person = RM350 (mostly can get breakfast)
Accomodation = (USD50 = RM190) X 5 \ 2 person = RM475 (mostly breakfast included)
transportationaround Phnom Penh city and Siem Reap town = RM60
Transportation around Phnom Penh city and Siem Reap town as below;
From and to airport = (RM27 X 2 way) \ 4 person = RM14
Phonm Penh city travel = RM95 per day \ 4 person = 24
Tuk-Tuks in Siem Reap town = RM50 \ 4 person = RM13
Bicycle rental in temple areas = RM12 X 2 days = RM24
Travel between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap by bus = RM14
Travel between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap by boat = RM95 (per boat?)
Other misc transportation = RM60
Temple pass (3 days block) = RM152 RM112
Cambodia Visa (USD20) = RM76 RM56
Food = RM10 a meal X 3 meals a day X 6 days = RM180 RM150
Spending money = RM201

*FYI,
1 USD = 4,323.50 Cambodian Riel
1 RM = 1,145.48 Cambodian Riel
1 USD = 3.77730 RM

*More information Cambodia here http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/cb.html

I estimated more for the accommodation and food. So should be cheaper. And of cos if you plan to buy more stuff then you should increase your own spending money. So... we should be spending is about RM1600+- RM1590 for the whole 6 days 5 nights holiday.

This is roughly my idea lah. Ideal group size is 4 person. Too many people hard to travel and make decisions.

");

*edit (Nov-6 05): I've editing and added some information due to calculation errors. Not sure if anyone noticed but I calculated USD1 to RM2.8, not RM3.8. Some how I feel like I'm missing something out too.....Let me know if I did.

*edit (June-24 06): My mom, dad and sis went to Siem Riep! ...not me =(

Bread sticks!

HAHAHA I was very wrong when I thought that my colleagues and I won't have any makan makan session when we move to our new floor. Due to all of our glutton genes,(wai sek'ness) we had another mini pizza session on Monday.

The new pantry is really nice. A four dimension microwave (you can bake a cake and even roast a chicken! wOOt!), a coffee machine (real coffee beans…espresso and cappuccino in a jiffy) and a better sink and water filter, and much larger eating space. The only down side to the pantry is that there's very very little preparation space. All the empty space is taken up by all the kitchen gadgets.

Anyway, I think we won't be doing anything this 'dai pan cheong' (bizarre) in the future because the new pantry is ‘see through’. The walls and door are made of glass. The only reason we decided to have the makan makan session was because most of the people at the new floor were already on leave for Depavalli and Raya.

Having a better microwave oven is nice. HAHAHA nice... but not like I can bake cookies and cakes lah… but still nice.

Putting together the mini\bread pizza.

Preparing for the oven.

Into the oven.

I told my mom about the makan makan session we had and she decided we should have Italian food for lunch today since my grandma and quite a number of relatives are down in KL.

My mom made the pizza dough and made 3 really large pizzas! I made bolognaise sauce to go with the pasta. And instead of making my specialty, (that's the garlic bread) I made bread sticks today. Turned out quite ok but there’s room for plenty of improvement. Going to make them more often now to ‘practice’ LOL! Making bread sticks from scratch takes up a lot of time and energy though. It’s not as simple as making garlic bread.

XXL Pizza. About 40 to 45cm in diameter!

Vegetarian pizza for one of my vegetarian relatives.

3rd pizza... that really looked like a pizza pie\cake because we ran out of pizza pan and resorted to baking pan.

Bread sticks! Too bad I didn't have parmesan cheese to go with it.

Spirallies

The bolognaise pasta sauce.

Last but not least, Happy Depavalli!
