Nothing but complains

I need a faster connectionnnnnn .....need more bandwidth..... I'm desparetly in NFS! (..not the game :P)

I have been getting sucky speeds lately. Webpages seem to take ages to load even when I'm not downloading anything. I usually just need a few minutes to check my emails, but waitng for my inbox and emails to be loaded is a real pain in the butt.

*arghghghg*

Anyway, I'm going to really relax for the next whole week. I will be taking days off work! HOHOHO! But then... got to do banking, got to go for a medical check up, got to go renew my passport, got to be Super Maid also la. So sad la. Every time when I have time off, I'm expected to "Eh you on leave right? Free right? Clean the house." Yeeashh. I wanna rest laaaa.

*complain complain complain*

I got to get back to gym since I'm done with my on-call duties. ...But goshhhh I'm so darn lazy right now. *sign* ...but also gaining a lot of spare tyre around my waist area. So sad la, if only we eat to stay slim. Wouldn't that be great?! HAHAHA

Got to do some planning man. Want to do this, want to do that. Got to do some baking to. Since mooncake festival is approaching.. (actually when is it? Supermarket are selling so many mooncakes already) I'm planning to make some Chu Chai Peng for my DoReMi cousins when they come down next week. YES! They are coming again...

This post is just so full of me .. hhahaha.. ok la.. I'm guess you are like "ooi stop already. ..So here, some entertainment for lending me your poor eyes. I hope that your eyes didn't cry blood...oh man.. I'm full of shit today.

I'm using Mozilla firefox as my browser, but have a look at this. Whahahaha!

I'm off the hook!

Hua hua hua! At about 3pm today, I went down to the data center and reset the Primary hotline number to call forward to my other colleague. I'm off the 24/7 on-call duty until late October. YES! FREEDOM!

Anyway, I though luck was going to be on my side. I didn't really expect calls on my last day... my last few hours. I went over to the KL convention center to have a look see at the World Cyber Games (WCG) 2006.

I popped by the main stage and whooped a free CD... aiyah some new Malaysian online again la. Not the original copy of WarCraft la :P Then went along to the RO (stands for Ragnarok Online, the first Malaysian online game that made it big locally) and won myself a RO CD case. I'm no RO fan so any RO fan wants it?

Just as I got off the stage... my support phone rung! Aiyor! I had to head back to the office to check on stuff.

I hung around the office for quite a bit and then left to watch people blast each other off in CS. I actually spent a long time watching the people game.

From young kids ...Standard 3 maybe... to uncle uncle.. ok maybe not that old but mid 30's? I kind of hung around till late because I read from xes.cx that Melbourne shufflers will be performing. Kind of weird if you think of it. Some bunch of nerds geeks gamers and shufflers? HUH???? Maybe they should have a game out of the Melbourne Shuffle. HAHAHAHA! I can already guess the key strokes! \/ | \/ | \/ | The audience waited for 45 minutes though. Thank god there was an impromptu NFS challenge to watch.

I have uploaded the clips to YouTube. Not going to "play" it here because the files are a little too big to for stream here. I still like to practice some good HCI here.

Clip 1
Clip 2
Clip 3
Clip 4. The emcee was encored to shuffle too. Hehehe.

I left for the LRT after the performance to a JAMMED PACKED LRT station. The management had to control the crowd and block off entry to the platform. I decided not to faint in the crowd so I enjoyed a piece of white chocolate macadamia nut cake at Secret Recipe. Boarded the LRT about 9pm and guess what?

Train no 205's is burning some where. At every stop when the door opens, we all could smell burnt rubber of 10 cars X 4 tires and a busted engine. Something was wrong. We all thought it was nothing serious until the management got everyone off at the KL Sentral station.

All of us were stuck. Some were smarter and left ...most probably taken a cab home.
After waiting for 15 minutes I got bored and so I recorded this.

I left the station and rung my "Daddy, can you please pick me from the KL Sentral station... I'm stuck".

Teambuilding in CyberView Lodge

I had my first team building with my boss, my big big boss and other bosses on Monday in CyberView Lodge in Cyberjaya. It was really FUN! But really HOT too!

We started the morning session with 4 games. The first game my team played was the spider web.

Strings are basically tied to two tried to form a spider web. The whole team have to get through the holes without touching the strings. The catchy part was when one hole is used, the hole cannot be used again.

The human puzzle was actually easy. But really hard when you are given an impossible puzzle to solve!

Only if the team realize, that the team will be given a solvable puzzle.

The next game is harzodous. It's called plutonium!

The plutonium located within the "force field" can not be touched. Only when carried out, the blind folded person can remove it to a "safe zone" ...blind folded.

The last game before lunch was building the tallest flag pole using water pipes, masking tape and strings.

It's not easy I tell ya.

After lunch, ... wait before I get to that. I got a support call during lunch! =( I cut short my lunch for my on call duties. But it's ok la, the food was quite bad.

Anyway, it was something like Explore Race after lunch. At one of the check point, the teams had to look for 7 types of mushrooms!? yep, they found mushrooms, 7 types of insects ..huh?! one even manage to catch a bug that looks like a fly, and a dragonfly, 7 types of leafs, 7 types of flowers....

7 shapes of rocks

And 7 types of soil!

After the team building. We left CyberView Lodge to have a bus tour of Cyberjaya and Putrajaya.

And of course, everyone was hot, sweaty, tired and tanned. But.. it was a lot of fun.

direct number

Ok, how when you have the "direct number" to call when you want to reach the police, you can try this out. WHAHAHAHA!

Keep your car keys by your bed

Another email... this time a quite useful junk mail. So I guess I should be clasifying it as junk.

Echo("A good tip that I got from a friend who got the tip from a neighborhood watch coordinator. When someone is trying to get into your house, or if you hear a noise outside your house, " keep your car keys next to your bed on the night stand and just press the panic alarm on your car. It will go off from almost anywhere from inside your house and it will keep honking until your battery runs down, or until you reset it with the button on the key chain. A lot of burglars will cut your telephone line before breaking in so this is a real good idea. Could save your life.");

24/7 on-call support

I'm officially on my 24/7 on-call support duties for this whole week until next Friday. *sign* That means no like for a week. But too bad la. It's still Happy Birthday Soloh and David! But if I get calls, it's out with the food and drinks and *zap zap* to the command prompt.

Going on call is part of my job, so don't pity me. Pity my parents and sis! Why? My relatives are down and if I receive any calls in the wee hours in the morning, they will be awaken by the call to because I am sleeping with them while my relatives are here.

...I hope I don't get kicked out hehehe.

Anyway, a funny picture to start off my on-call duties.

Talk about global warming...LOL!

Japan’s inventions

Japan’s inventions. I recently got to know from a colleague that they have a whole book on such inventions. Got to borrow that book heheh. Should be good entertainment.

Ahhh they really should start manufacturing umbrella like that. I will definitely buy those. It’s annoying sometimes when the bottom half of your body gets wet under the umbrella. But I think the material used should be some sort of special material to give air circulation. I won’t want to faint because of the lack of air.

HAHAHA somehow this reminds me of that Meet the Parents movie. Wait… the second movie Meet the in-laws…. Forgot the movie title but this is cool for the dads.

Hm…I wonder if this will really work. Won’t the chopstick be too heavy? Plus isn’t it Japanese culture to slurp the noodles up to show respect to the chef or something?

I need this!

Hm, really portable butter stick actually. It is better than those mini plastic casing you get when you eat the waffle.

I know someone who could use this hehehehe

Who needs a maid when you have got your baby?!

I know a lot of mommies that would want this for their children. I won’t mind getting one for myself if they have some anime toaster hehe

Out of all the invention, I think this is one of the less useful ones. Looks ugly too.

Ahhh last but not the least. Actually this is on top of my list! I sleep with 3 pillows and a bolster. With this, I think I only need that pillow and a bolster. ….or maybe 2 of those :P

Pikom PC Fair

Since the PC fair is held in the KL convention center, it is even much easier for me to head to the fair. I used to take the Putra LRT and swap trains at Masjid Jamek on to the Star LRT to get to the Putra World Trade Center for the older PC fairs. Very convenient with the accessible public transport but it's even more accessible for me now because my work place is just less than ten seconds walk away from the KL convention center!

I used to skip lunch for the fair but that hour++ is never enough. Never never enough. I realized that I have this routine for the fair since they have it in KL convention center.

My first visit will always be my overview. Have a quick walk though all the halls (this year they have 8!). Scan for what's new hot stuff and the current gadget trend in the fair. That's over lunch.

And then after work, (lucky for me, I finish work at 4pm on Fridays) it's just a walk over to the fair for the 3++ hours full walk. This round I usually head to that booths that attracts me. Look see and feel the hot gadgets (and yes, including checking out the pretty booth girls. But don’t get me wrong, I’m a guy person :P ...actually, I notice there are more good looking guys at the PC fair this year HAHAHAHA) If I needed stuff, I will usually do my price survey and purchase my smaller common items first. They usually cost the same on a normal day but it's fun'ner to buy them at the fair hehe. I'll leave the larger and more expensive stuff till the last day.

Yep... best time to buy stuff (esp cameras, laptops, PDA's) is actually on the last day. You usually won't get any cash rebate, but you might end up with extra years of warranty or maybe one or two more free gifts.

I know it's awful a lot of time spent in the fair for the average person... but don't you spend more time shopping in KLCC?

USB thumb drives are awfully cheap already. And now comes with skins and stuff. Cheap I tell ya. I saw these at the last fair actually... it seems they have more and more skins right now. You even get a free fruit drink when you purchase them!

Ohh and I saw a skin that was design to be attached and decorate your lanyard. Kind of cool. I wanted one of those… but my UBS drive is like dinosaur. Shyyy la.. I should get a newer smaller one.

For football fans. You don't have to buy many thumb drives for each of them... it's like hand phone covers. Swap them.

But you know what, there should be called thumb drives anymore (or am I the only person that still calls them thumb drives?). I saw a USB memory stick that is smaller that my pinky. It's about one inch long and a centimeter wide and slimmer than 2 credit cards put together! And you know what, it's only RM90 for a Gig. It's not much extra to pay for the size.

...memory is cheap!!!!!! Should I get a larger SD card? I think I need one... HAHAHA.

Ah... and more and more China and Taiwan brand for MP3 and MP4 players are popping in the market. And some quite ok quality too.

I wonder if Apple should sue this company. The outlook looks a lot like the iPod nano. The OS sucks big time though. Sound quality is ok. Price is really cheap! It's only about RM280 for a 2gig. Then again... the buttons are a bit hard and you'll never know how long the player will really last. But for the price, one should now complain.

Ahhhh and original Norton’s. But I think I'll stick to open sources stuff.

Jackass

Have someone insulted you in front of your face and you can't do anything but smile?

I have been there, and it sucks. I should have retorted. But then... I didn't want to be "shallow" and sink to his level.

Jackass.

PC whiskey bottle

Hah... one of those email’s again. I have seen microwave PCs, PS2 PCs, homemade wooden PCs, and a few others that I can't even remember. And now... PC in a whiskey bottle?

The next time any one finish those 5 liter champagne, pass me the empty bottle. I think I have enough hardware to made one of my own too! Talk about portable PCs!

Putting on a fake smile

I was at DUMC again today to watch another play. This time it is called Sliver Airplanes. Another BRAVO job done by the people at DUMC.

The play was really good, it touched me heart deeply. And yeah man, I cried during and even after the play. It was that good. He was laughing at me though :P but I wasn't the only one crying.

I'm very lucky actually. That is why I feel damn guilty now. I bet he felt insulted, I bet he went like "Spoilt brat! You don't know what you have got." I'm glad I realised it before anyone pointed it out to me.

I felt so ashamed of myself when he elbowed me, giving me the hint while the pastor was speaking. He knows how lucky I am, for it is only a "wish" for him. I'm sorry that I didn't think about your feelings. I must be such a bitch for not noticing this.

I have this new found respect for him. It's though life, but he was and is handling it so well. But I wonder... if he is just putting on a fake smile? I think I can learn a lesson or two from him.

Stay calm

Cheh... The Petroleum Club located in the twin towers is over rated la. Like the Royal Selangor Club.

We went for a tour of the club before dinner. The interior deco was with a lot of wood and English deco. The restrooms were like hotel rooms, there was a lazy man sofa bench in there. HAHAHA you can now sleep in the "restrooms". The nicest part I found in the club (on the 42th floor) was a "The Beauty and The Beast" style stair way. The only thing missing was the view. The whole section of the club overlooked the city, not the park. The view in the day is nothing really to awe about but the view was better come night when the street and building lights were all lit up. Looking down from the 42th floor of the twin towers made my office building looks to tiny.

Anyway, dinner was served on the 43rd floor in the Petroleum Club's Chinese restaurant. There's no open dining place but just all private rooms. The food was above average but service was questionable.

Meeting with some of the managers was ok. Ate with the HR manager and overall ok la. I think lunch with the AP IT HR was more interesting. Very interesting unbelievable stories! But the company's profit is even higher that the GDP of some developing countries... maybe not so unbelievable after all.

"Planning for God's visit"... LOL!

The orientation is getting dreadful day by day. Thank god tomorrow is the final day. I'm really getting sleepy with all the talks and really uncomfortable with the food. One more day tomorrow, one more lunch on Friday, and another dinner on Monday.

Going to die already.

And that reminds me, I have a training to attend next week, and another orientation to attend after the week after that! I really don't like attending all those stuff. I want the facts, but I so bored with attending all the talks already. Why can't the company save money and just have a short 2 hour session everyday for briefings and talks?

I will rise from death and die again.

And on-call. Still worried about that la. Sure going to be panic on my first on-call. But like that the slides says... "Stay calm"

End of support life

I'm super stuffed with food! 2 breakfast, buffet lunch and tea. Siow! Still have two more days of this. Tomorrow with dinner!

As part of the new employee orientation, I will be having dinner with managers tomorrow at the Chinese restaurant in the Petroleum club in the twin towers tomorrow. I'm quite excited about the dinner. This might be the one and only time I get to dine with the managers. My first dinner, but I hope it's not my last.

Things are going so fast... but my clock is ticking slower. I don't know why, but I don't seem to pick as fast as before. I'm like the product life cycle, from infant stage to growing stage... I have reached mature stage and now fast declining to "out of the market" stage.

I better find some way to convert this "Dog" stage to mine to some "Cash Moo Moo". But then, question marks and star would be fine too. I won't want to be too ambitious.

Da da da ... *sign* I suddenly miss CIS. HAHAHAHA not like you can't tell by today's post.

If you are too geeky to understand what I just said.. well. Just take it as me feeling like a end of support life. Like Windows 9x. I need to feel like Windows Vista.
