Since the PC fair is held in the KL convention center, it is even much easier for me to head to the fair. I used to take the Putra LRT and swap trains at Masjid Jamek on to the Star LRT to get to the Putra World Trade Center for the older PC fairs. Very convenient with the accessible public transport but it's even more accessible for me now because my work place is just less than ten seconds walk away from the KL convention center!
I used to skip lunch for the fair but that hour++ is never enough. Never never enough. I realized that I have this routine for the fair since they have it in KL convention center.
My first visit will always be my overview. Have a quick walk though all the halls (this year they have 8!). Scan for what's new hot stuff and the current gadget trend in the fair. That's over lunch.
And then after work, (lucky for me, I finish work at 4pm on Fridays) it's just a walk over to the fair for the 3++ hours full walk. This round I usually head to that booths that attracts me. Look see and feel the hot gadgets (and yes, including checking out the pretty booth girls. But don’t get me wrong, I’m a guy person :P ...actually, I notice there are more good looking guys at the PC fair this year HAHAHAHA) If I needed stuff, I will usually do my price survey and purchase my smaller common items first. They usually cost the same on a normal day but it's fun'ner to buy them at the fair hehe. I'll leave the larger and more expensive stuff till the last day.
Yep... best time to buy stuff (esp cameras, laptops, PDA's) is actually on the last day. You usually won't get any cash rebate, but you might end up with extra years of warranty or maybe one or two more free gifts.
I know it's awful a lot of time spent in the fair for the average person... but don't you spend more time shopping in KLCC?
USB thumb drives are awfully cheap already. And now comes with skins and stuff. Cheap I tell ya. I saw these at the last fair actually... it seems they have more and more skins right now. You even get a free fruit drink when you purchase them!
Ohh and I saw a skin that was design to be attached and decorate your lanyard. Kind of cool. I wanted one of those… but my UBS drive is like dinosaur. Shyyy la.. I should get a newer smaller one.
For football fans. You don't have to buy many thumb drives for each of them... it's like hand phone covers. Swap them.
But you know what, there should be called thumb drives anymore (or am I the only person that still calls them thumb drives?). I saw a USB memory stick that is smaller that my pinky. It's about one inch long and a centimeter wide and slimmer than 2 credit cards put together! And you know what, it's only RM90 for a Gig. It's not much extra to pay for the size.
...memory is cheap!!!!!! Should I get a larger SD card? I think I need one... HAHAHA.
Ah... and more and more China and Taiwan brand for MP3 and MP4 players are popping in the market. And some quite ok quality too.
I wonder if Apple should sue this company. The outlook looks a lot like the iPod nano. The OS sucks big time though. Sound quality is ok. Price is really cheap! It's only about RM280 for a 2gig. Then again... the buttons are a bit hard and you'll never know how long the player will really last. But for the price, one should now complain.
Ahhhh and original Norton’s. But I think I'll stick to open sources stuff.
